Marinos Cafe Beverly

I was looking forward to trying the new Dominican Restaurant in Beverly, but they were closed today. I had Marinos Cafe in Beverly bookmarked for their Banh Mi.

They are in the Cummins Park, so there is plenty of parking. Why does Google say Marino's Cafe's on the left side?

The inside was nice and bright with cafe seating. You order at the counter, pick up your number and utensils, and when the food is ready, it's brought out to you. The board said that the hot sandwiches would take a while, but my lunch arrived quickly.

The dining area.

The Banh Mi was served on ciabatta, and that was enough Banh Mi fail for me to skip it. Instead, I went with the bbq brisket ($9). "smoked in-house, served pressed on ciabatta w/ pickled onions, cheddar cheese and bbqsauce". They seem to have run out of uppercases on the menu. The sandwich had been panninied to death, so the outside was way crispy. In fact, it was so crusty that when I bit into the sandwich, the brisket departed out the sides. As a result, the last third lacked brisket. The second half was eaten with the top discarded using a knife and fork. The knife had a hard time cutting the bread. The brisket itself was very tender, but if there was any smoke involved, the BBQ sauce masked that. The pickle was just a cucumber. The staff was delightful.
