Waxy O'Connor's Irish Pub & Restaurant is located in an industrial park as far from Lexington center as you can get. This has been the site of a number of restaurants that didn't make it. Hopefully, this chain restaurant will do better, they certainly were busy enough at lunch today. BTW, trying to look at the lunch menu on their website was a horrible experience.
It's a big place and they also have an outdoor patio but, of course, it was empty on this cold and showery day. The restaurant can be a bit hard to find in between all the office parks.
Yes, it's a pub! Unfortunately, it was freezing inside but it still looked very nice. Linen napkins were absent, the only thing you get is a small flimsy paper one.
LAMB SHEPHERD’S PIE ($13.99) with ground lamb braised in dark ale, tomatoes, garlic, onion, carrots, celery, rosemary, with mashed potato was a big portion. It could have been a bit more browned, like one I saw come out later but the real mashed potatoes were excellent as was the filling, rich and savory. This was a really good rendering of this classic dish, even if the filling was a bit sparse.
They also have a couple of coin operated full-size pool tables available. Sorry, no snooker tables.
