Bistro Duet in Arlington opened just about a month ago in the space previously occupied by Flora. They just started serving Sunday brunch this week. What's in a name? Bistro Duet is co-owned by General Manager Wayne Duprey and chef Cyrille Couet and if you take the first letters in Duprey, and the last in Couet, you get Duet.
They are located on Mass Ave, and the building started out as a bank. Parking can be iffy, but there is free (for now) on street parking on Mass Ave and on the side streets.
The inside is gorgeous with high ceilings and big windows.
A different view of the dining room and bar. I managed to get one of the high tops at the windows and had a very good overview of the dining room. I must admit that I like to see what other tables are ordering. I saw a couple of Eggs Benedict being delivered, and they looked really good.
An expertly made Bloody Mary (10) was quickly delivered, after all, it's brunch.
I started with the Salade Croquant du Jardin (10). "Goat cheese crottin, grilled tartine, shallot vinaigrette". The tender greens were super fresh, and the dressing was very nice and light. I really enjoyed the toasted tartine with the melted goat cheese.
Next was the Crispy Duck Confit Waffle (14) with sage cream sauce. I picked up the waffle looking for the duck but nothing there. It turns out that the duck confit is mixed in with the batter. I really like the European sized waffle. The waffle was tasty, and the salad was pleasant. The service was very good, and all the staff was super friendly. The manager and wife(?) were walking around making sure everyone was happy. Both the dinner menu and the brunch menu lives up to the bistro name, there was Moules Frites on the brunch menu and who doesn't love that? They also closed the restaurant after brunch, so that everybody could go home and enjoy the game with their families, nice.
Disclosure: I was invited as a media guest, but all opinions are my own.
