I first visited Jade in North Andover in December after someone had recommended them and the website looked really nice. Unfortunately, when I arrived construction had just started! Their actual opening date was April 22, when they had their "ribbin" cutting.
They have no visibility if you are coming from the south. Plenty of parking. They serve the lunch buffet seven days a week. They also have lunch specials, both Chinese and Japanese.
The dining room was nice and bright with pleasant booths along the windows.
Big bar area with high tops, and a good amount of beers on tap.
The lunch buffet ($12.95) was good sized. There is a Sushi bar to my left.
The other part of the buffet. Across is the ice cream and desserts. Try the Ginger Ice Cream.
Yeah! They have nigiri and later on, a plate of maki joined it. This got refilled pretty quickly.
Two soups to choose from, and I went with the H&S. Yes, it was orange. Not sure how to describe this soup. It wasn't really hot or sour, but it wasn't unpleasant, and the mushrooms were very fresh.
The rice in the Nigiri was pleasant, and the fish was very fresh but cut paper thin, it was a long cut. The seaweed salad was very good. You get linen napkins and good cutlery. Chopsticks are available at the buffet.
Appetizer run. The shrimp in mayo sauce was cooked nicely, and the shrimp were BIG. The shumai was very good, tasty and juicy. The chicken wing was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. Shrimp dumpling was also tasty, and the chili oil was hot, but not overly so.
General Gau's Chicken was made properly with dark meat and had a little bit of heat, and it wasn't your normal overly sweet version. I managed to get a few pieces later after they had been refilled and they were nice and crispy. The Bok Choi was good but was called something else. The Singapore Noodles was REALLY tasty. If you ever see them on a buffet they are normally bland and boring, but not here. Chicken and Asparagus skewers were tasty. Beef and Mushrooms were OK. The Kung Pao Chicken was not very spicy, but the chicken was tender. The service was very good, but they weren't really busy, they have been open for less than a month. I'm sure the business will pick up since this was a very pleasant buffet in a very pleasant environment. The dishes were refilled quickly, and the food was hot. All the food was seasoned well. I wouldn't mind coming back.
