Home Taste Arlington

I had an enjoyable meal at Home Taste in Arlington Heights on my last visit. If you are looking for beef and broccoli, this is not the place for you. If you are looking for food from Xian, you are in the right place. Hand-pulled noodles, fragrant cumin lamb, tasty noodle soups.

The inside is bright and nice. Last time I went on a weekend, and the place was packed. Not so much today.

This is the B2. Spicy Cumin Lamb Burger ($4.98). This was tasty but it wasn't spicy and could have done with some more cumin. The bun was a bit dense, but I think it's supposed to be.

I also ordered the "D5. Spicy Hot Oil Seared Hand-pulled Noodles with Chopped Pickled/Red Chili and Bok Choy ($7.68)". The description should really be "Seared Spicy Hot Oil Hand-pulled Noodles" since the noodles are not seared. You have a choice of Hand-pulled or Thin Noodles, and I went with the hand-pulled noodles that are excellent. What's missing? The Spicy Hot Oil was completely absent. When I asked the waitress about this, she mumbled something about it is there, and when pressed she had no explanation. The interesting thing is that my bill said Noodles with red chili and bok choy. Either the menu is wrong, or it was a case of the white guy can't take the heat. The hand pulled noodles are really excellent and a delight to eat. The pickled chilis were really good, and the pickling had toned down the heat. There is also a big glob of minced garlic on top waiting to be mixed in.

Some chili oil made it to the table and somewhat rectified the situation. A good dose of this made it into something that resembled my expectations. The suggested tip is correctly calculated pre-tax.
