Tokyo Japanese Steakhouse in Saugus is in the Square One Mall, so parking isn't an issue. Traffic might be on a sunny Saturday. Armed with a 50% off Groupon+ I set off for lunch today. The 50% off maxes out at $10.
Plenty of parking and they are next to an entrance. They are flanked by Sears and Best Buy.
They seem to concentrate on Shabu Shabu and Teppanyaki. All tables have hotplates, so the legroom is restricted. Teppanyaki is a great show for the young ones, but the food has never impressed me. There is also a serious upsell of stuff.
Miso Soup and a Salad are included. The Miso soup wasn't bad. The salad was OK, but all the liquid from the dressing filled 50% of the bowl.
Chirashi ($20.95). The prices on the online menu are seriously out of date. I wasn't impressed by the quantity of the fish for $21. Two pieces of salmon, two thin slices of tuna, two small pieces of dry mackerel. One piece of dry albacore and a thin slice of red snapper? The rice was well seasoned and at the correct temperature.
Some grilled eel arrived as well, The skin was flabby, but the avocado was fine. The service was just OK. I did get $10 back promptly.
