Commune Kitchen in Arlington opened recently in the space vacated by Zocalo.
A couple of Clear Flour Bread expats are opening the tartine-and-pizza-focused restaurant, Justin Demers and Richard Niedzwiecki. Demers also worked at Somerville’s Bergamot. There is only on-street parking so you take your chances. They are closed Mondays and Tuesdays.
The menu is on the wall and is fairly limited but the prices are very reasonable.
I liked it better when the tables to the left were four tops and not facing the center of the room. In the back are trash and plate containers and you are supposed to bus your own table.
I got very excited when is saw that they had Poutine ($7.25). "House Fries W/ Mozzarella curds, classic gravy and green onion". It was listed under Sides but was good sized portion and enough for me at lunch time. The fries was house made and delicious as was the excellent gravy and the curds were real curds so I was really happy with this as my lunch today.
Everything is serve yourselves including the water. The water had so many lemons in it that it almost became a lemonade. The silverware was hiding next to the entrance to the dining room.
