What used to be Waxy O'Connor's has now changed to Waxy's "A modern Irish bar". They still have 12 locations. Almost all of the Irish dishes are gone from the menu. Instead, there is Bao, Tandoori Chicken, Beef Stroganoff and Bavarian Pretzels. The rest is all American standards apart from the Indian dishes.
The easiest way to get to Waxy's is taking Rte93 South since they are very close to the off-ramp. Guess nobody told them about the name change. Plenty of parking.
Nice big imported Irish Bar that almost filled up at lunchtime today.
How's this for a great picture? The only Irish thing left is this, and it's only available on the lunch menu. SHEPHERD’S PIE ($8.00). "Lunch portion of our Shepherd’s pie served with a side garden salad". The browning of the mash obviously never happened. It was real mashed potatoes that were, as usual, unseasoned. The filling was lamb, so it was a real shepherd's pie. The filling was was OK, but could have been seasoned more. A lot more. Despite that, this wasn't bad for the price.
The side garden salad was fresh and really substantial. I like that the dressing comes on the side. I wish they had washed the raw onions before putting them on. That is really part of kitchen 101 to get rid of the acrid raw onion taste. You get linen napkins and decent silverware. The service was OK. If I have to pack my own leftovers, that will reflect in the tip.
They have small covered outside patio. When I asked the waitress about the lack of Irish dishes, she said that the chef was from the Middle East and had added dishes from there. There is falafel on the menu, but that's the only thing that is even close to the Middle East.

Sounds pretty mediocre. Won't be dining here.
