Shallots Woburn

I have had numerous lunches at Shallots in Woburn, and the results have been a bit mixed. They can do seriously spicy dishes, but they tend to lack flavor. Best dish so far is the Crispy Duck Panang Curry. The Panang curry is excellent and really tasty. The drawback is that it's not really a crispy duck. Well, it is, but not in the way I expected it.

On street parking and also a few spots behind the building. They still have the 15% discount at lunchtime. Shallots are competing with two nearby restaurants that are way cheaper but not as nice. I must admit that the lunch portions are very generous.

The bar is nice, and they also have a Sushi section. The Sushi chef went on vacation a while ago and is still vacationing somewhere.

The dining room is pleasant and bright. The now have live music. Not sure where it's announced. Nothing on FB.

Lunch Spicy Basil Cod (13). "Fillet cod, sauteed mushrooms, onions, zucchini, bell peppers, carrots and string beans topped with fresh basil leaves". This is a cut and paste from their online menu. Look at the size of that fish! Their brown rice (no extra charge) is delicious but also very al dente, but I like it. I ordered it extra spicy, and it was since they know me. The cod was fried crispy, and it was a whole filet. She also remembered that I complained about crispy fish in the sauce, so now it comes out on top. The veggies were cooked nicely. For something that's called Basil Cod, there was a notable absence of basil. I found three small sprigs.
