Karma in Andover got a lot of recommendations in a discussion about Chinese buffets in Andover/North Andover.
They are located in a fairly big shopping center not far from Rte 495.
The inside was pleasant enough albeit on the darker side. The bench where I was seated was a bit uneven, so I felt like I was leaning to the left.
The lunch buffet ($11.95) was good sized.
The sushi offerings were only Maki. In the background, you can see the cocktail shrimp. There was also crab legs there, but they were gone when I arrived at 11:45 and never got replenished.
The cocktail shrimp were fresh. The Japanese shumai was good. The coconut shrimp lacked coconut and was overcooked. The salt and pepper squid was overcooked and rubbery. The squid was never replenished. I asked for chili oil and was given sambal.
They had just replenished the coconut shrimp, but guess what? Still overcooked. The general gau chicken was all white meat, and it was so overcooked that I couldn't bite through on one side. The beef and green beans were good, but the beef was the standard over-tenderized beef. Garlic eggplant was good but mushy. The spicy Hunan chicken was cooked well but lacked heat. I was never asked if I wanted any soup. The service was OK, my water glass was refilled. I had to flag down a waitress to get my bill. For a lunch buffet in this area, I'll stick with Jade in North Andover. They have nigiri, and the food is cooked properly.
