Aquitaine Chestnut Hill

Second week of Restaurant week so I went back to Aquitaine Bistro in Chestnut Hill to try some different dishes. They have now wised up and it is now two courses for $15 and three for $20 and this is in line with what everyone else is doing.

Started was Soupe au Pistou Watercress with Citrus Creme Fraiche and Garlic-Thyme Croutons. The soup was very tasty and really nice, but it had cracked black peppercorns floating around so some spoonfuls had a surprise in them. Apart from that it was very nice.

Gray Sole Poelee with Maine Lobster Nage, Braised Celery & Courgette, Potatoes Boulangerie was also very nice and the fish was cooked perfectly as was the veggies. Not sure how a sliced boiled potato qualifyes as "Potatoes Boulangerie" but the whole thing was very tasty.

I decided to splurge and go with the $20 menu and ordered the Lavender Crème Brulee with Minted Orange Tuile. Again the dessert was the weakest link. The crust was soggy and the Brulee was thick and rubbery. Service was again very nice and this is a really nice place. I'll be back next week for Tuesdays Plat du Jour.
