Waxy's Lexington

Waxy O'Connor's has now changed to Waxy's "A modern Irish bar". They seem to have closed a fair amount of locations. The Woburn location is gone. Almost all of the Irish dishes are gone from the menu. Instead, there is Bao, Tandoori Chicken, Beef Stroganoff and Bavarian Pretzels.

It's a really nice location with plenty of parking.

It's a big place with a big bar. I managed to get a window table, so that was good. The window needed cleaning, and it would be nice if they got rid of all the cobwebs.

There are very few lunch dishes left. There are the Express lunch and a few others. I went with the SHEPHERD’S PIE ($8.80). "Lunch portion of our Shepherd’s pie served with a side garden salad". There is no dinner portion. There was no choice for dressing. Not sure what the unremarkable house dressing was. It was real mashed potatoes that were unseasoned. The filling was tender but needed more seasoning, a lot more. The freshly cut part of the salad was fine, the wilted leaves were not. The service was OK. I noticed that they had a Reuben on the menu, and I asked the waiter what cut of beef it was, round or brisket, and he had no idea what the question was about.
