First, the Haiwian Sushi Chef disappears from Tsukiji Bistro in Melrose, then the nice manager "He doesn't work on Fridays" is gone since he apparently doesn't work on Mondays either. The only one working lunch is the waitress that started a couple weeks ago. The menu has also changed, not sure how recently, and the nice waitress is impressively clueless about the dishes. Update 05/10/18. CLOSED.
There is a number of new dishes, and this is the Avocado Stacks (14). Choice of fish and I went with the spicy salmon. Not sure of the description since I took a picture of the wrong section of the menu and the online menu isn't updated. Clearly, it isn't plural. I do remember fried wontons, sweet soy sauce, sushi rice. It was very tasty, but a bit light on the avocado. It was also a fairly small portion. There is a rumor that both the Poke Bowl and the Chirashi is now significantly smaller. I mean, if this is what I get for $14 and it's minced salmon, what will I get for $10 or $12 in dishes that use solid fish? The good news is that they are now available all the time.
Update: The Poke Bowl is now $12 and the Chirashi is $16.
