On a whim, I returned to Beijing Chinese Dining in Lexington today for lunch. I haven't been here since early '16. The parking has now gone up to 50¢/hour.
Here the name is just Beijing Restaurant. There is a big bar behind the hostess stand.
The H&S soup here is always a surprise, you never know what you will get. Today the soup certainly was hot, but the sour part was missing. It was an interesting soup and not bad.
From the printed lunch menu I choose the Dry Fried Chicken with Spicy Capsicum ($8.95). This dish isn't present on any of their online menus. I ordered it extra spicy, and that didn't work. Some of the spicy capsicums was a bit spicy but most wasn't. It was a well-seasoned dish with plenty of moist chicken, and I really enjoyed the dish. Their fried rice is excellent, light and fluffy and seasoned. Even the spring roll was good with a tasty filling that wasn't mushy. The service was good, but the waiter tended to disappear from time to time. My leftover was nicely packed in a styrofoam container and not just packed into a Chinese takeaway box. The menu has been significantly expanded and now have things like fish fillet with spicy bean sauce. I know this is code for fish with chilis.
