Sichuan Gourmet House Newton Highlands

Sichuan Gourmet House in Newton Highlands moved recently to this bigger location on Walnut Street. It's kind of hard to find since the entrance is from the rear on Walnut Street but it's very close to Rte 9.

This is the entrance and you can see Walnut Street in the background.

You have the normal choice of soup with your lunch and I went for the H&S. It was just OK, a little bit on the thin side.

Lunch Special Numbing Spicy Chicken w /GP ($7.50) and it was marked as three peppers on the menu. I quickly figured out the GP stood for Green Peppers and this was the normal mildly spicy green peppers. Good sized portion and it was seriously hot. I couldn't figure out if the chicken were mushy or very tender, but I'm leaning towards mushy. The texture was a bit strange. I haven't tried the chicken wing yet.

I also ordered another favorite of mine from the app section, Sliced Pork in Garlic Spicy Sauce ($7.95). The pork was sliced paper thin, so it was very tender and they didn't hold back on either the garlic or the spices. This was seriously delicious.

Big square room with miss-matched furniture. I ended up with a folding chair at the table the waitress is standing at. It had a decent padded seat, so it wasn't all that bad.
