Taj Indian Bistro Stoneham

Taj Indian Bistro in Stoneham opened about 5 months ago in a small plaza off Montvale Ave.

They have almost no visibility from the road and unless you know that they are here, they are hard to find.

They do a lunch buffet 7 days a week, $9.95 during the week and $11.95 on weekends. The inside was very nice and impeccably clean.

You can see the table heaters from when I Japanese restaurant resided here.

The condiment and salad bar. Yes, it had olives on it.

To the buffet. Everything was hot, so this is a good start. Frome the bottom we have a Chicken Curry with chicken on the bone. Excellent curry and the chicken was super tender. The Saag (without paneer) was also delicious. The Dal Makhani was great and seasoned nicely. The Tandoori Chicken was juicy and tasty. It resides on something that I never had before, Egg Fried Basmati Rice. I really liked it. Next, we have an excellent Butter Chicken, properly made with leftover Tandoori Chicken. Everything was seasoned really well. You also get linen napkins, another plus.

For Naan, you have a choice of plain or garlic, so of course, I went with the garlic. The naan was super thin and light and this was some of the best naans I have had in a long time. It was soo good that I took the leftovers home and that never happens.

I was quite amused by this.

  1. I got a good laugh at the Sushi boats... it took a minute to figure out what the picture meant. The moustache? The lights? OH! The boats! Your description and pictures makes me want to eat there. I hope I'm out that way soon.
