Rapscallion Table & Tap in Acton is located in what was once Chez Claude, a very nice French restaurant opened in 1976 by Claude Miquel, later the father-in-law of Rapscallion co-proprietor Peter Daniel. I had many nice lunches here when I worked for Digital in Maynard.
There is a sign down on 2A and then a sign at the entrance but nothing on the restaurant itself.
There is a nice patio for al fresco dining.
The dining room is nice and bright.
The bar area with high-tops in the back.
They had Poutine ($8) on the menu so of course, I had to order it. "Crispy russet fries, Black IPA beef demi glace, cheddar cheese curds, fresh herbs." The fries was very good and so was the gravy but the curds were stone cold. When I complained the waitress took them back to the kitchen for a quick nuke in the microwave and that made it soo much better.
My second appetizer was the Lamb Short Ribs ($13). "Locally raised lamb short ribs in jus with minted cucumber & tomato salad, tzatziki sauce." Not sure what the minted cucumber was, I got cucumbers but that was all. The salad was only partially dressed so I had to remove the tzatziki sauce that, for some reason, was on top of the salad, before I could mix in the salad dressing. Now the salad was nice. The lamb ribs were excellent and super tender and the gravy was nice. The tzatziki sauce was very bland. Not the brightest brigade in the kitchen.
