Petrillo's Restaurant in Peabody has an excellent reputation for Italian food, so it was time for a lunch visit.
They are located in Peabody Square and within walking distance of the free parking.
A very nice dining room that was bright and impeccably clean. There is another dining room upstairs with a full bar. Only beer and wine downstairs.
You get fresh bread and olive oil. Butter upon request. Linen napkins and good silverware.
On Thursdays, the homemade soup is Pasta Fagioli ($3.95). The soup was thick and delicious but lacked pasta.
I went with the Chicken Parmigiana ($10.95) with homemade Fusilli (+3). "Pan fried breaded chicken cutlets topped with mozzarella cheese and red sauce served with your choice of pasta". I was surprised by the upcharge for the pasta. The waitress said it's mentioned on the menu, but when I checked, it was not. It's mentioned on the dinner menu. It's hard to see, but there were two substantial pieces of chicken included. The pasta was on the soft side of al dente, but it wasn't mushy. The marinara sauce was excellent, light and tasty. It wasn't the intensely tomatoey sauce that is so common. This was a very good lunch (and dinner).
