My lunches at Tashan in Bedford. Part 2 of 2.

I have been very please with my lunches at Tashan. The chef usually comes out and checks on the tables. When i complimented him on the dishes, he said: We got lucky! Ha! A very experienced crew in the kitchen and they are not dumbing down the food. Part1 can be found HERE.

There is plenty of parking, and while it's in Bedford, it's located just over the border from Burlington.

Express Plates

Mumbiachi Grilled Sandwich (13). "Amul Cheese, Potatoes, Spices, French Fries". It was tasty, and the bread was nicely crisped up. It was very light on the spices. It wasn't a whole lot of FF, but they were OK. A nice light lunch.

Desi Fish & Chips (17). "Catfish, Egg, Flour, Breadcrumbs, Indian Spices, French Fries". The fish was cooked perfectly, and the crispy seasoned batter was excellent. Fried fish doesn't get better than this. The fries were delicious and had a light seasoning added. The ketchup looked streaky, so I had to try it. It has some hot sauce stirred in, which was a pleasant surprise. I never have ketchup with my fries, except this time. The chef consistently tours the dining room and checks in with everyone.

Masaladar Keema Pav (17). "Minced Lamb, Butter, Red Onions, Cilantro, Tomato, Pav". Neither the tomato nor the cilantro made it. This is street food made fancy. The super fresh buttered bun was nicely toasted. The ground lamb was tasty. I had a hard time figuring out how to eat this, I ended up putting 1/2 bun on a plate and loading it up with lamb and peas, sprinkling some onion on top, and using the knife and fork. The chilis stuck in the onions was fiercely hot. Another enjoyable lunch.

Another Thali (Prix Fixe Lunch Menu) (17). Today's offering was Chicken Vindaloo, Peas and Potatoes, and the dal was Dal Makhani, one of my favorites. The Naan was excellent, thin, and crispy. It is too crispy to be used as an eating implement. The Vindaloo had a hint of vinegar, as it should. Otherwise, it's just a chicken curry. The chicken was dry, and the dish lacked heat, so I got a small bowl of something that was fiercely spicy. The potatoes and peas were bland. The dal was excellent. The rice was fine, as was the little undressed salad after I pushed 90% of the raw onions to the side.

Lunch BIRYANI (19). "Extra Lean Lamb, Dum Cooked Basmati Rice, Aromatic Spices, Desi Ghee, Raita". This was an outstanding Biryani, really well seasoned, and it had a bit of heat. Plenty of tender lamb. The rice was, of course, perfect. The raita was excellent, there was a hint of mint in there. Dum just means really slow-cooked rice.
