Capital Grille Burlington

Special day today so the lunch was at Capital Grille in Burlington. Again I parked myself in the bar to avoid having to look at the staff in their supremely ill-fitting jackets.

Extra Extra Dry Martini, Tanqueray with a twist. This is really a secret code for "Give my a glass of chilled gin with a twist".

They have a special two-course lunch special ($18) with a few apps and a few mains to choose from. The New England clam chowder was perfectly acceptable.

The Lobster Roll was claw meat as expected but at least it was the big claws and a lot of them. Much better than the 99 Restaurant ripoff. Very little binders and just a few small pieces of celery for texture. The truffle and parmesan fries are really delicious, and I had to finish all of them. For the money, I was very happy with this.

  1. Can you recommend a restaurant similar to Cilantro in Woburn now that they have closed. Thank you, Ben

    1. I didn't know that they had closed. I liked them and the food. Unfortunately there isn't anything else in the area except Pho #1 and I wasn't too impressed with their Pho but have to try some of their Thai dishes and see how they do.

    2. FYI. They will reopen today under new ownership (I think).

  2. Hi Peter:

You are quiet correct. The last time I was in, the owner Tan told me that they were closing and gave no indication of new ownership; that's why I assumed they would be permanently closed. I was driving by on Sunday and noticed an "Open" sign. To my surprise yes indeed they were! Enjoyed the drunken noodles. The new owner Joe and his wife took over and they have his mother doing the cooking and Joe told me they used to have a restaurant for years in Hingham. Drunken noodles were quiet good!
