Snappy Sushi in Somerville morphed into Snappy Ramen a while ago. They have an absolutely useless website, the only way to find the opening hours was to Google them and then look at when Google thought they were open. Looking for a menu? Forget it.
Yes, they changed the name as you can see. They open at noon exactly and that really irks me since I like to get in at 11:45 to get a good seat and beat the lunch crowd.
Most of the seating is around the communal table. Water and utensils are helping yourself. Minuscule napkins.
Counter seating is the place to be since you can watch the chefs prepare the dishes. There aren't too many choices of ramen but a fair amount of add-ons.
I thought that the Spicy Wafu ($13) sounded good. The Tonkotsu soup was served with steamed cabbage, wood eared mushrooms, baby arugula and pork belly kakuni. The broth was excellent, rich and spicy and the pork belly was tender and succulent. Really good version of ramen with excellent noodles that had a really nice texture.
Not sure why they don't serve lunch more often since they did a good amount of business today. Of course, it was a 60-degree day with sunshine in the middle of December and there were a lot of shorts around.
