Strega Prime Italian Steakhouse in Woburn is participating in the Boston Dine Out week and for once they are offering something different from their standard Strega Prime Executive Lunch ($21) that they usually offer for $20 and that's really not such a good deal, so I usually skip it.
They have switched the tables around a bit since my last visit to the very nice dining room.
You still get the enormous popover but now you get real butter with some olive oil drizzled on top.
I started with the Steak Tartare with Truffle Aioli, cornichons, caper berries is what the menu said but there were one caper and one cornichon on the plate. The Steak tartare was excellent as was the bread with tomato. You can see how fluffy the popover are in the background, it's really paper thin but very tasty.
This was followed by Twin Filet with Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Green Beans, Red Wine Sauce. The filet was cooked exactly as ordered and everything was excellent, the green beans was just tender but still had a nice crunch to them. A lady at the next table ordered the same thing, cooked rare, and when it come out as ordered, she complained that it was undercooked!
For the finale, I picked the Black Forest Tart and boy, was this delicious! Chocolate overload but I'm not complaining. What a nice lunch this was on an unprecedented 70+ degree day and I could drive with the top down. In March!
