I was told that Jimmy's Steer House in Saugus had a decent priced lunch offering so on this very windy Thursday I headed out to the dreaded Rte 1 where everything is always on the other side.
Just to prove my point, they are located on the northbound side. There is plenty of parking. They are owned by the same corporation that owns the Jimmy's in Arlington, so how come that this location has a very nice website and the Arlington location has none?
Big bar with plenty of booth seating.
The inside was spotless and very well kept. It didn't stay this empty for long, the blue hairs kept arriving, and when I left, there was a line waiting for tables.
An enormous loaf of warm bread arrived promptly. No linen napkins, but very high-quality paper napkins, and good cutlery.
They had some interesting fish option on the lunch menu in the eleven dollar range, but when I saw the: "KANSAS CITY PRIME RIB – SLOW ROASTED IN OUR SPECIAL RIB OVEN 11.99" I was sold. I picked the Baked Potato as my side (+1.50 for loaded), and it was a seriously big and fluffy potato. The prime rib did come out as ordered and I wasn't sure what to expect for $12, but it was a sizable cut that arrived. I didn't expect a prime aged cut, but what I got were a piece of tender and juicy prime rib that tasted of beef. The au jus was good and got poured over the potato. I also got some horseradish on the side, and I was in dead cow heaven. My waitress was very pleasant, and I'll probably be back to try the fish dishes despite that they are on the wrong side of Rte 1. Of course, that means they are on the right side when I'm leaving.
pretty much spot on for the food and waitstaff just dont run a foul of the management the prime rib is excellent as for the fish dishes the scrod and the scallops are to die for. that being said the rack of lamb on sunday is hit or miss and dont expect a proper reaction from the manager he has customer service issues. overall we have never had a bad service at any of the jimmys until the manager took his frustrations out on us but thats him not the food the food is excellent
ReplyDeleteBest filet steaks, prime ribs & lobster casserole. Always plenty to eat & tender, tasty beef.
