Breakheart Inn Wakefield

Breakheart Inn in Wakefield is a student run, or more correctly, student staffed Vocational School restaurant that is open for lunch Wed-Fri.

Follow Hemlock Road all the way to the end to find them. Plenty of parking.

Nothing very exciting here. The bakery is in the back. The staff was lined up against the wall to the right.

You get some warm bread, and the butter was at room temperature, so it was actually usable. The cheapest cutlery available. Come on, you are serving the paying public here.

I ordered a Caesar Salad ($1.75) that arrived with my main entree, so it ended being an after lunch salad. The dressing tasted more like an Italian dressing than a Caesar dressing, and the croutons were so hard that you had to scoop them up.

Grilled Marinated Tenderloin w. Mushrooms ($6.00) served with rice pilaf. Serving brown rice and calling it pilaf doesn't really work. The very small and thin tenderloins were overcooked and very dry and lacked seasoning. I don't like butternut squash, but that isn't their fault. Nobody asked how my meal was and the cashier didn't know if they took credit cards. They don't. I know this place is staffed by students, but it's the end of the term, and I was hoping for better.

I picked up an Eclair from the bakery because it looked good and was only $1. The pastry was dry and the filling was grainy, but the chocolate was good.
