Harrington's in Wakefield is a traditional Irish pub in downtown Wakefield and I tried to go here earlier in the week since they had some specials for Wakefield Restaurant week. Unfortunately, they only do lunch Fri-Sun so that attempt failed but I went back today on this sunny Saturday. It also turned out that the specials were for dinner only.
Looks like a pub from the outside. There is plenty of free on-street parking available.
Nice dining area and I got the only window table that also happened to be nice high-top.
Bar area with more seating. They also have an upstairs but that was busy with a private party.
A big loaf of warm Irish soda bread arrives but unfortunate the butter was the whipped variety.
They offer wings for $.75 a piece, so I ordered two Bourbon glazed ones. The glaze was nice and the wings were sort of crispy on the outside but they were somewhat dry on the inside. Not sure what the dipping sauce was, it certainly wasn't blue cheese. Apart from that, I think this is a brilliant idea.
It's an Irish pub so I went with the SHEPHERD’S PIE ($13). "Ground sirloin, carrots, corn, and onions. Topped with homemade mashed potatoes". A bit unorthodox way of serving a shepherds pie but the filling was nice and thick and the potatoes was well made but the whole thing seriously lacked seasoning. Don't anyone taste what they cook anymore?
I had a nice view of the square in downtown Wakefield. Nice day but not a very exciting view.
