Casa Blanca Billerica

I was going to Shaan's Kitchen since it was rumored that he served an Indian Lunch buffet but it turned out to be on Thursdays and Fridays only, so I went next door to Casa Blanca in Billerica instead.

I actually hesitated when I saw the state of the sign on the building but forged ahead anyway.

Yes, it looks like a Mexican restaurant.

The bright dining area that I was not seated in. I did manage to avoid being seated in the darkness and got a window table instead.

Nice bar area.

Of course they have the rolled up silverware. Warm chips and salsa arrived promptly. The chips were actually tasty as was the chunky salsa even if it was a bit thin.

I went with the "Combo Dos (Choose Two) enchilada, tostada, burrito, tamale, taco, chile relleno, or chimichanga $8.95" served with rice and refried beans. This was from the web, in reality, it was $9.95. I picked the Chile Relleno and the Enchilada with pork. The rice was unseasoned and mushy and the refried beans were way too salty and I like salt but they did have a nice texture. The Chile Relleno was supposed to be "wrapped in a thin layer of fried egg" but had a very dry coating of something, not sure what. The chile was, for once, properly cleaned. The happy surprise was the enchilada with pork that was stuffed with very tasty and tender pork in nice big chunks. The bill did come to $10.57 and the waitress brought back $9 in change so she got $1 as a tip. Bring me the money!

  1. oof on the stealing the change part. So unnecessary. Or at least they should have the courtesy of saying, "hey we crazily ran out of quarters, sorry." And then take OFF the 57 cents. Frankly, I'm gobsmacked that she would do that...
Petty thievery is a silly way to get money - and can drive away customers.
