On my first visit to Golden Garden in Malden, I was intrigued by a number of dishes in the specials section.
They have got their sign up, and a mighty impressive sign it was.
They got a few customers later on, otherwise it was a big empty room as sparsely decorated as their Belmont location. The Belmont location will stay open, despite rumors to the contrary.
One of the interesting dishes was the Crispy Sweet & Sour Pork Sliced with Chili Oil ($12.95). The same dish without the chili oil is a dollar less. The pork was very very dry but it was crispy. It was also very very sweet and completely lacked the sour part. The sweet sauce was almost like a caramel in its texture and it quickly coagulated. Not a very enjoyable dish at all.
From the BBQ section, I ordered BBQ Strealy Pork (3) ($4). Yes, that's what the menu said. This was actually enjoyable and tasty, not sure where the BBQ part comes in.
