Anchor Pub & Grille Beverly

If yesterday was gloom and doom, today was sunny, bright and warm and a perfect day for a short road trip to Anchor Pub & Grille in Beverly.

I'm still trying to figure out the story about the pandas. My waiter had no clue.

This is the calm before the storm. End of breakfast and before lunch started. It got jam-packed later on. It took a while to get food, but they are upfront about the small kitchen, so this is expected. No big deal.

I started with two stuffed clams (stuffies $2.50 each). They were big! They were also light with a really tasty stuffing. The two of them could have been a light lunch, that's how big they were.

This is not a Fried Clams Platter, but their Fried Clams Roll with FF ($15.95). I have seen clams plates that had fewer clams than this roll. The clams were lightly battered and expertly fried. I must say that they were really excellent. Their tartar sauce is also very good. The FF was OK, crispy on the outside and soft and potatoey on the inside. Of course they were unsalted, and that posed a small problem since they were covered by the clams.

What size are these clams? Medium? I wouldn't call them small, but they could be big?
