3 Amigos Malden

3 Amigos Bar & Grill in Malden opened about a month ago in the space formerly occupied by FuLoon that will be dearly missed.

There is street parking and also parking in the lot at the end of the street, half the lot during the day, and the whole lot at night. They have half priced tacos on Taco Tuesdays, but only after 4 PM.

The inside was very nice with a big bar dominating the room. The old fish tank is still in the building.

You get (cold and slightly stale) chips and two salsas. The tomatillo one was nice and tart but a bit runny. The tomato one had some garlic and a bit of heat. Yep, linen napkins.

I thought the Carnitas Tacos (10) sounded good. "Braised pork , habanero / pineapple salsa , pickled onions". This is a cut and paste from their website. Seems they have a problem with spaces. The lunch menu also failed to mention that rice and beans are included. You can substitute refried beans if you want and that wasn't mentioned either. The pico de gallo was very nice with some crunchy cabbage included. The beans were OK, could have done with some more seasoning. The rice was good.

The tacos come on a house-made corn tortilla that was nice, and very light. They didn't skimp on the pork, this was a very generous portion. Everything was good, the pork was tender and tasty, the pickled onions were crunchy, and the salsa packed a bit of heat. Not a bad meal at all, especially for the price, and I'll be back to try more dishes.
