Blackmoor Charlestown

A $20 left on a Nift card netted me a $25 voucher for Blackmoor Bar & Kitchen in Charlestown. I must admit not being overly familiar with Charlestown. How did we manage before GPS?

Parking? Forget about it. They do take $7 off the bill so you can park behind the restaurant. Or go on a Saturday or Sunday when you can use residential spots.

The inside was nice with a big bar area and nice dining section.

I started with Nashville Hot Chicken Tenders ($12). "Fried Chicken, "Prince" Style Hot Pepper Paste, Served Over White Bread with Pickles". Blue Cheese dressing was also included. It had chunks of Blue Cheese that needed to be broken up before it was usable. The chicken was VERY tender and spicy but neither hot and not even close to Nashville hot. It was very tasty and crispy.

This was followed by the Magoun's Reuben ($14). "House Cured Corned Beef Brisket, Bacon Infused Thousand Island Dressing, Swiss Cheese & Ale Braised Sauerkraut or Homemade Coleslaw". With sauerkraut of course, without it, it's nor a Reuben, it's a Rachel. I had seven choices of sides and went with the creamy potato salad. This was an excellent Reuben with thick cuts of excellent brisket and a very tasty dressing and sauerkraut. None of the paper-thin sliced mushy brisket. The bread was light and toasted. The potato salad was creamy with unsalted potatoes and egg. However, the potatoes were cut into too big chunks and they had the skins left on. The service was good and friendly. My bill after the discount was $1.07. No more Nift gift cards, sadly. Well, it turns out that if you invite five business to Nift, you get another $30 card. Nifty!
