Mario's Lexington

Time for a return visit to Mario's Italian Restaurant in Lexington for another try at their famous baked ziti. Last time I tried they had run out.

I had better luck this time so here is the famous Baked Ziti ($7.99 at lunch) "Layers of pasta, seasoned ground beef and tomato sauce, topped with a creamy cheese Bechamel sauce all cooked to a golden brown" with meat sauce on the side. I also got a couple of loaves of nice and soft Italian bread. The baked Ziti is layered and the meat layer was tasty, the ziti was underseasoned and the bechamel, since it was reheated, had split and were just crumbles. It was also not really "golden brown" either. Unless this was a really off day, I have a hard time seeing how this could be famous even on a good day. The meat sauce on the side, on the other hand, was relly good.
