Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana in Chestnut Hill opened in December of '15 with long lines, both for takeout and dining in. I was going somewhere else today but they were closed for renovations, so I thought that now was a good time for a visit.
They are located on the second level of the Mall at Chestnut Hill, so parking is not an issue. There are a few tables outside in the mall area.
The famous brick oven can be seen in the back.
It's not a big place but there is booth seating to the right.
I had to try the small White Clam Pizza ($14.50). "Fresh Clams w/ grated cheese, Olive oil, Fresh Garlic and Oregano." I also ordered it with Bacon ($2). The pizza was a 12" and looked good, apart from the burned bits. I really like the crust itself, very thin and really crispy and it had a nice taste. The bacon was good but the clams failed miserably, a lot of the clam bits was so rubbery that they were inedible. I might be back to try another pizza but never this one again.
This is some of the rubbery bits that were actually more than rubbery and should never have been on the pizza. Just terrible.
The best part about Frank Pepe is going to Morano Gelato next door for dessert.
