Wee Thai Food Lowell

Wee Thai Food in Lowell has excellent reviews, and I was curious about their food.

The outside isn't very impressive. I wonder if they actually thought about the name or just went Wee Thai Food without thinking about it? Free on-street parking.

However, the inside was bright and very inviting. It's about four two tops and a couple four tops, and that's it. Impeccably clean inside.

Pork Belly Bao ($4.95). "Sliced roasted pork, pickled papaya-carrot, cucumber and cilantro." The menu said, Don't order this if you are in a hurry, but it arrived reasonably quickly. I'm not really a fan of Bao's, but I really liked this really light bun. It was a thin slice of pork belly, but the whole thing was delicious. 10/20/21

Khao Soi ($10.95). "Popular Northern style Yellow noodle in curry, chicken, boiled egg, red onion, pickles mustard sour." No choice of protein. I asked for it extra spicy, and it was spot on. The egg was cooked perfectly with an almost runny yolk. The pickles were excellent and tangy. The mustard sour was as expected. The noodles were either undercooked or pleasantly chewy pick one. This was a surprisingly good Khao Soi. I'll be back to try more dishes from the somewhat limited menu. They took the order using a wireless card reader but went away to run the card. I thought this was a bit odd. Wicked flimsy napkins, please upgrade. 10/20/21

Spicy Shoyu Paitan Ramen ($12.95). "Aroma soy sauce base and spicy red bean paste, pork belly, bamboo, mushroom, bean sprout and half soft boiled egg." I forgot to lift up the noodles, but it was the thinner variant that was cooked well. The pork was tender and tasty. The broth was fantastic, rich, aromatic, and spicy. Not overly spicy, just pleasantly spicy. This time my card was swiped at the table. 11/20/21

I got two surprises at my lunch visit today. 1. The dumplings were cold. 2. The scallion pancake lacked scallions.
Spicy Dumplings ($7.95). "Steamed pork dumplings, chili oil vinaigrette, cucumber, scallion, cilantro and fried garlic." The cold dumpling was tender and tasty, with an excellent vinaigrette.
Scallion Pancakes ($4.95). "Crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside." They were crunchy on the outside and, unfortunately, crunchy on the inside as well. The dipping sauce was delicious, but the bowl was too small to dip properly.
12/16/21

SHAKEN BEEF (LOC LAC) ($13.95 $14.95). "Stir fried cube shape steak, lettuce, tomato, fried egg and lime dipping sauce." The egg was cooked perfectly, browned on the bottom, and still runny. The beef was tender and tasty. The sliced red onions were new to me. The dipping sauce was excellent, and the rice was cooked correctly. The cucumber could have been fresher, and the lettuce had started to brown. 02/17/22

Crab Meat Fried Rice ($14.95). Crab Meat & Shrimp Fried Rice ($14.95). "Real crabmeat, eggs, onion, scallion." It wasn't the lump crab meat that was shown in the photo on the menu, but it was real fresh crabmeat. Not a lot, but enough to taste it. It was a generous portion. 03/23/22

The menu keeps on expanding from visit to visit.
